Sleep is a vital sign for health and wellbeing. Getting quality sleep supports strong memory, clear thinking, better focus, sound decision-making, and effective problem-solving. It enhances mood, emotional resilience, and daily performance while helping keep us safe and alert. Consistent, restorative sleep also plays a key role in long-term health, supporting heart health, stress management, and brain health across the lifespan.

For individuals who have difficulty initiating or maintaining sleep, or who wake too early, acute or chronic insomnia may be the cause. Insomnia is highly prevalent, affecting up to 30–50% of adults, and many individuals struggle with symptoms for years—often trying numerous over-the-counter and prescription medications or other strategies in search of relief.

The first-line treatment for insomnia, and the approach consistently supported as most effective by medical providers, is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I). CBT-I typically involves 2–8 sessions and has been shown to be more effective than medication for long-term sleep improvement, while being equally effective in the short term.

Other sleep disorders can also significantly fragment and disrupt sleep. Evidence-based behavioral interventions are available for these conditions as well, including Imagery Rehearsal Therapy for nightmares, circadian rhythm alignment, and CPAP adherence interventions. Reducing sleep fragmentation promotes restorative sleep, which is essential for healthy metabolic functioning and overall wellness.

As one of only two individuals credentialed by the Board of Behavioral Sleep Medicine, I have completed extensive training, supervision, and evaluation to earn the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia Credential (CBTI-C). This credential allows me to provide comprehensive sleep assessments and deliver evidence-based interventions with the highest level of fidelity. I offer treatment for insomnia, nightmares, circadian rhythm disorders, and CPAP adherence for Obstructive Sleep Apnea, as well as referrals for sleep studies to evaluate conditions such as Restless Leg Syndrome, parasomnias, Obstructive or Central Sleep Apnea, Narcolepsy, and REM Behavior Disorder.

These treatments can be provided alongside other medical or mental health interventions. Research consistently shows that improving sleep enhances responsiveness to other forms of treatment.

Non-fragmented, restorative sleep is possible.
